When speaking of psychobilly, the focus tends to be on the bass players. The relative strength of one of these bands can be measured by the virtuosity of the person handling the upright bass. Because of this, a great guitar player could go almost unnoticed, or at the very least they might not receive the acclaim they rightly should. Peter Sandorff, the former guitarist for Nekromantix, is certainly one of those cases.
During his time with the Nekromantix, Sandorff expertly executed playfully demonic guitar licks that paired perfectly with frontman Kim Nekroman's bass lines. The strongest albums that the band has released have all featured Peter Sandorff on guitar (particularly Return of the Loving Dead, the album that marked his return to the band after a lengthy period away). Several other people have handled guitar duties for Nekromantix over the years, but none of them helped bring their horrorpunk rockabilly sensibilities alive with as much style and skill as Peter Sandorff did.
Here is Sandorff on stage with Nekromantix playing one of their signature songs, "Gargoyles Over Copenhagen".
